Thoroughly Modern Millie

Book by Richard Henry Morris
Music by Jeanine Tesori
New Lyrics by Dick Scanlan

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp! Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

Here are some other shows that we're considering for our upcoming seasons...

The Scarlet Pimpernel

Book and Lyrics by Nan Knighton
Music by Frank Wildhorn

The Scarlet Pimpernel is a swashbuckling, adventurous romantic musical. Set against the backdrop of the bloody French Revolution, this is a tale of courage, betrayal, justice, intrigue, trust, honor and love. The show is packed with action, romance and comedy.

Appalled at the frequent beheadings in Paris, a group of English nobles cross the channel and use disguises, ruses, and wit to foil the French army and rescue the innocents who are sentenced to death. While on English soil, the "League of the Scarlet Pimpernel" pose as the fanciest of fops to avoid suspicion. The group's leader - The Scarlet Pimpernel himself - is none other than Sir Percival "Percy" Blakeney, Baronet. Percy has married a French actress, Marguerite St. Just, who has a shadowy past including an affair with the Pimpernel's arch-nemesis, Chauvelin. To raise the stakes even higher, Chauvelin - an agent of the French Republic - blackmails Marguerite into helping him discover the identity of the Pimpernel.

Little Shop Of Horrors

Book by: Howard Ashman
Lyrics by: Howard Ashman
Music by: Alan Menken

A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney's "The Little Mermaid", "Beauty And The Beast" and "Aladdin." Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, "Little Shop Of Horrors" never fails to entertain.

Mention the names Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan to any teenager and see what happens! Disney Channel's smash hit musical comes to life on stage! This very popular movie needs no introduction for the teen set. But, for those of you just beyond your teen years, it’s simple. Truly a High School story of first romance, teen rivalry, tough decisions and ultimately togetherness! Who can resist singing basketball players, the dynamic stage diva, the jocks vs. the brainiacs? Featuring such songs as “Get’cha Head in the Game”,  “Bop to the Top” and  “Stick to the Status Quo.” For the young and the young at heart, High School Musical proves that we truly are “All In This Together.”

Pirates Of Penzance

Book by: Sir William Schwenck Gilbert
Lyrics by: Sir William Schwenck Gilbert
Music by: Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan

A fresh take on one of Gilbert and Sullivan's most popular comic operas, this updated version of "The Pirates of Penzance" took New York by storm when it premiered in Central Park in 1980, leading to a subsequent smash-hit Broadway run. Wacky, irreverent and as entertaining today as it was when it first opened in 1879, "The Pirates Of Penzance" spins an hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, dewy-eyed daughters and an eccentric Major-General, all morally bound to the often-ridiculous dictates of honor and duty. The beauty, wit and whimsy of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic score is suffused with a modern sensibility, appealing to contemporary audiences.

Big River

Music and Lyrics by Roger Miller
Book by William Hauptman
Adapted from the novel by Mark Twain

Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life your favorite characters from the novel-the Widow Douglas and her stern sister, Miss Watson; the uproarious King and Duke, who may or may not be as harmless as they seem; Huck's partner in crime, Tom Sawyer, and their rowdy gang of pals; Huck's drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn; the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes and her trusting family. Propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the king of country music, this jaunty journey provides a brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana.
